Words you DON´T want to learn...

... like the words for "computer repair technician"! My computer stopped working on Tuesday. I don´t know if it is a virus, or something else. The computer is old, and I´ve been planning on replacing it this spring, or maybe summer. Well, now I´m repairing it, too!

It was a bit of an adventure, as you might expect, what, my being in South America and all. I went to a computershop near my house, only to find it closed with paper over the windows and a sign saying they had moved and wouldn´t open until February. I walked to the new location anyway, and got somebody to answer the door and told me that no, even if they were open, they´d not be able to help me there. He gave me an address on Avenada Florida. It being late in the day, I decided to go after classes on the next day.

It took me a little over an hour to get there from the school, taking me through the end busiest parts of the city, the widest street, Aveneda 9 de julio (28 lanes wide? more?). I finally found Aveneda Florida, street that only allows foot traffic. It was a remarkable experience waking along the street. CROWDED! And hot (35 degrees C). But I eventually found Av. Florida 537 (they put the number after the street name here), and after talking to several shop-owners (I had only the address, not the name of a shop, and the address was to a "galleria", a mini-mall, all with computer shops. But I found it without OK, and the man told me I can return on Wednesday.

Anyway... I don´t have my computer right now, so I can´t post picture to this blog. But I keep taking them, and when I have the machine back (may it be so, and soon!), I will continue the posts.

It is now very late on Friday night, and I must leave the school. We had a party tonight. I think they have one every Friday night, for those who are leaving, and also to give us a chance to get to know one another better. We had beef on a BBQ (Of course! It is Buenos Aires, and they eat LOTS of beef!), and lots of other local goodies to eat and drink, plus dancing, plus lots of great conversations in the cool, night air. We were up on the roof, and it was quite enjoyable, indeed.

I will write more later. Many thanks for your thoughts, your prayers, the notes you´ve sent, and all of the support and love you offer me.

Hasta luego!

-- Bill

Oh dear, this is my first reply to a blog. I already wrote one but maybe it is lost.
Hi Bill - Happy Birthday seven days late!
Thanks for all your letters - I love them! You are doing great, conversational and all. Keep up the good work.
The shower for Lexi and Jen went well, a pot luck with gifts. Fun. Some people couldn't come because of the snow. So... you are lucky to be south.
Love, Dale
