The day is here! Time to go to South America! After months of planning and working out all the details, there's nothing left to do but get to the airport. Of course, a major ice storm is predicted for North Texas at precisely the time I am to arrive at the airport. Here's hoping the roads stay clear until Dad gets home, and the airport stays open until I'm airbound for Miami. My travel itinerary is to fly from here to Miami, getting there with 2 1/2 hours lay-over to make the transfer from American Airlines to LAN, go through customs, etc. Then I depart the U.S. at 8 p.m., arriving in Argentina at 6:55 a.m. (Eastern time) on Sunday morning, January 14th. From there, car service to the home of my host is all arranged, and she is expecting my morning arrival. Then, bright and early on Monday morning I'll take the subway to the school where I will be studying. Placement examination is at 8 a.m., followed by class at 9 a.m.
Final words about my visit with Dad. It was wonderful to get to spend some time with him here in Texas. We've had some great conversations, nice, long walks and some pretty drives. And he has put up with me with exceeding patience as my not-so-subtle tension has been rising as my departure approaches. Thank you, Dad, for being such a wonderful father. What a blessing!
The next entry I make should be from Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Hasta luego! y muchas gracias para todo de su amor y los oraciones!
(Transalation: Until later! And many thanks for all of your love and prayers.)
